Welcome to the SAMH Scoop! Every month we bring you the latest news and ways to get involved with Scotland’s mental health.

Feel Your Personal Best
Feel Your Personal Best - Sir Chris HoyAlong with our partners at sportscotland, we have launched a new campaign, to share the benefits of physical activity and help you to Feel Your Personal Best.

It comes as new research revealed that 60 percent of Scots who were active throughout the pandemic said it had a positive impact on their wellbeing.

Commenting on the campaign, SAMH Ambassador and Great Britain’s joint-most celebrated Olympic athlete of all time, Sir Chris Hoy said: “Physical activity is central to good mental health, and small changes – like a daily walk with a friend – can be transformational. The activity doesn’t need to be strenuous to be effective. Feel Your Personal Best is not about clocking steps, miles, or the fastest times; it’s about people finding their own way to get moving.”

New translated materials5 ways in PunjabiWe have translated two of our most popular information resources to allow us to support even more people across Scotland with their mental health.

Our Five Ways to Better Wellbeing leaflet, as well as our Understanding Mental Health Problems resource, have both been translated into Polish, Punjabi (Gurmukhi) and Urdu, thanks to support and funding from the National Emergencies Trust. We hope this move will help people across Scotland who don’t speak English as their first language or are unable to read English, to gain better access to information and support.

All six of our translated resources will go live on our website on 5 July in time for the start of Health Information Week. As one of our valued SAMH supporters, here’s a sneak peek at the Punjabi version of our Five Ways to Better Wellbeing leaflet.

That’s it for this month. We’ll be back with another edition in August.
