The City of Edinburgh Council Girls’ Sports Academy programme shall return for 2023/24. Although this is a performance football programme for players S1-S3 attending Edinburgh schools, the selection phase is only open to S1 & S2. The selection phase for this will take place on the following:
- Monday 11th September
- Forrester High School 3G
- Start Time – 4.30pm
- Finish Time – 6pm
For players in S1 or S2 only for session 2023/24
PLEASE NOTE: nominations for this programme must come from parents, not from clubs/schools.
PROCESS FOR CLUB:
Cascade to relevant staff members/parents if applicable. Parents/Carers should access the Sports Academy Application Form to complete registration form with nominated player details. Those already part of the Sports Academy squad need not reapply. Applications must be made no later than Midday on Thursday 7th September. Ensure players and parents are aware of the venue, date, and time of the selection phase. For those successful in being selected, the programme runs every Monday and Thursday starting 21st September 2023, and concluding Thursday 28th March 2024. Training will be the same time and venue as the trial. This programme has proven very successful in recent years with many of the players going on to play National Academy Programme football and represent Scotland at various age groups. For those selected for the final squad, there will be a fee payable of £200 for the year. If this represents a barrier for anyone, this can be discussed at the point of selection.
